Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, spent much of His ministry caring for individuals, one by one. Join us this Christmas as we follow His example and find ways to share our time, love, and resources with those in need.
*****Week 1: Light The World*****
Jesus Christ taught, “Ye are the light of the world.” We can share that light to all of God’s children when we give as He gave to people near and far.
Get started - You can #LightTheWorld however you’d like, or you can begin with these suggestions:
*Share about someone who’s been an example to you of Christlike service.
Post to social media using #LightTheWorld
*Visit a Giving Machine or make a donation to help a global cause.
For Arizona, the machines and the Light the World display are in Downtown Gilbert (across from the Hale Theater - 50 W. Page Ave, Gilbert, AZ 85233. Gilbert Rd just north of Elliot. Approximately a 35 minute drive from Paradise Valley Stake Center) . It is estimated the machines will operate until Dec 24th. The machines will be staffed by full time missionaries in street clothes from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm.
*Collect supplies to help refugees from war-torn regions
* Seek out a person from another culture and learn his or her story.

First Presidency Christmas Devotional
“Jesus Christ is God’s transcendent gift — the gift of the Father to all of His children,” said President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the First Presidency’s Christmas Devotional.
“That birth we joyfully celebrate each Christmas season.”
The prophet encouraged Latter-day Saints to “accept many gifts offered by the Lord,” including an unlimited capacity to love, the ability to forgive, repentance and the promise of “life everlasting,” or eternal life.

What’s the difference between a dream life and real life? Liz Wiseman asked this question and came up with three things to do when we feel crushed with broken hopes and dreams. Every day we see images in social media, magazines, and advertising of the dream life. Everything’s in the right place and looks (or seems) perfect. But real life is messy.
There are three things we can do to find joy among the mess.
1. Avoid the false God of perfectionism: Strive for steady improvement without toxic perfectionism. Be compassionate about what you decide to post on social media. Post what’s real instead of what’s filtered—your successes and your disappointments. What’ll happen is instead of promoting jealousy, you’ll bring hope and healing, and you’ll let people know that they’re not alone.
2. Share mistakes: Research shows that when we share our vulnerabilities and mistakes with others, they see us as courageous. When we admit our mistakes we also feel courageous ourselves, which helps us move forward in faith.
3. Look to Jesus Christ for healing: He heals our broken hearts and binds up our wounds. True healing come from Jesus Christ. That which has been broken can be made whole.
Life is messy. Things break. We break. Even if we’ve had our hopes dashed, we can have hope because of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through Him, we can be fixed.
