Sacrament Meeting

Stacey Matthews and Kevin Hansen spoke on implementing the new
"Come, Follow Me" Curriculum
Both Stacey and Kevin emphasized personally seeking inspiration to find the best way for you and your family to study the scriptures and teachings of our Savior. Stacey reminded us that each individual and family are different and we have to figure out what works best for us. Kevin also remined us that we each have different learning styles that we need to be aware when taking upon us any course of study and studying and learning always works best when we make our environment inviting to the spirit.

During the October 2018 General Conference it was announced a series of resources to help Church members and their families study the scriptures at home:
"Come, Follow Me — For Individuals and Families."
The first of these resources will focus on the New Testament, which is the course of study for Sunday School and Primary classes in 2019.
“Living by and reading the word of God,” the First Presidency says, “will build faith in Heavenly Father and His plan of salvation and in the Savior Jesus Christ and His Atonement” (First Presidency letter, June 29, 2018).
For years, Church leaders have been emphasizing that home is the best place to live, learn and teach the gospel, and gospel learning and teaching should be part of daily lives, not confined to Sunday classes.
Using the new "Come, Follow Me" resources, Primary, youth and adult Sunday School classes support home-centered gospel learning as teachers inspire learners to experience the power of God’s word for themselves. They invite class members to discover gospel truths in the scriptures and share their discoveries with each other “that all may be edified of all” (D&C 88:122).
The resources for 2019 are the first of what eventually will be a four-year rotation of study based on the four main books of scripture.
Leaders hope members will use the new resources to strengthen faith, deepen conversion and improve teaching in the home and at church. (Church News)

Help others in a new way each week
Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, spent much of His ministry caring for individuals, one by one. Join us this Christmas as we follow His example and find ways to share our time, love, and resources with those in need
Week 2: Light your community
Service doesn't just happen on a grand, global scale. Your own community is full of opportunities to get involved, make a difference, and give as Jesus gave.
You can brighten your community however you'd like, or you can begin with these suggestions:
*Perform an anonymous act of service for a neighbor.
*Volunteer at a homeless shelter.
*Give blood at a blood bank or blood drive.
*Help clean a church building.
*Clean up a neighbors yard
*deliver cookies to a neighbor
*meet someone in your neighborhood you have not met

First Presidency Christmas Devotional

“Jesus Christ is God’s transcendent gift — the gift of the Father to all of His children,” said President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the First Presidency’s Christmas Devotional.
“That birth we joyfully celebrate each Christmas season.”

The prophet encouraged Latter-day Saints to “accept many gifts offered by the Lord,” including an unlimited capacity to love, the ability to forgive, repentance and the promise of “life everlasting,” or eternal life.

Revisit scenes from the events surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ in this touching version of The Nativity.

The angel Gabriel, sent from the presence of God, announced to the young Mary her future role as the mother of the child Jesus (Luke 1:26-38). The angel also comforted and encouraged Joseph, Mary’s future husband and Jesus’s earthly father (Matt. 1:20-21).

While Mary was pregnant, she and Joseph traveled from Nazareth to Bethlehem. In that city, Mary gave birth to Jesus, wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn (Luke 2:4-7).

The Wise Men heard of Jesus’s birth and traveled far to see Him. (Matt. 2:1-2). Shepherds were watching their sheep in a field by night when the angel Gabriel appeared to tell them the good news as well. A Savior, had been born. They hurried to see Jesus lying in a manger, and then they told the world about that miraculous night (Luke 2:8-18).

Rejoice! For unto you, and unto all of us, a Savior is born.
