HAPPY NEW YEAR

Just a Thought . . . .

Sacrament Meeting

We had the opportunity to listen to an update on the missionaries from our ward currently serving in the field

Elder Davis
Favorite line from Dallin's last letter:
"I do not think my mission will ever get better than this so I am trying hard to enjoy the good times and work hard. It has recently seemed like there is more work for us to do that we can get done. "

He is working hard.

Elder Packard
Elder Packard has recently been transferred to Geel, Belgium , with  Elder Van Fleet from Payson Utah.. "This has been quite a cold week. A thick fog has settled in and this past week when we have been riding our bikes, the fog collects on our clothes and then freezes so we are covered with a layer of ice." He teaches many immigrants including African refugees. Belgium has the best chocolate in the world, and is beautiful. However, the finding pool is tough! But the work goes forward and his testimony and faith are strong.

Sister Tolosa
Since she was a little girl Faustina told us "she had come to learn about everything" and has continued this way since today. She's always been a missionary, at 8 she gave the BOM to a teacher, she faced another teacher who said God did not exist  by telling him it was his opinion and testified of her beliefs.A few months before going to her mission, she talked to our bishop and asked if she could do a mini mission in the ward, in our city and the mission malaga president agreed, she lived missionary life for a week and loved it!
She has heard many sad stories from refugees from Nigeria,Syria,Pakistan, She has met people from Romania, Ecuador, France, England,Algeria, Peru, and of course italian people to whom she has great love, her great grandparents on her father's side were from Treviso, near Venice and from who she inherits her italian citizenship. Her love for others and for Her Saviour have grown immensely during her mission.
Having her serving a mission has bought about many blessings in our lives, after more than 20 years of marriage and being  surrounded by children for so many years, we have enjoyed being just the two of us, there’s much more silence in our house, which is good specially when we grow older but at the same time reminds us of the absence of the loved ones. We miss her tons but we are learning through her experiences and feel proud to have a daughter serving the Lord, legally representing Him, taking His message to others, letting others have the opportunity to have eternal families as ours is. Because that’s His plan.  As it says in Moses 1:39 For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.
With Elder and Sister Johnson from the Area Presidency whose daughter served in our ward in Alicante not long time ago.

Elder Muhn

George is settling in to mission life. He hit his three month mark on Dec 20th. He enjoyed Christmas and New Years Eve! The Branch in Floriano, Brazil is extremely kind to the missionaries and helpful with the missionary work. George has opportunities on almost a weekly basis to provide service to ward members and as a part of Mormon.org community service. He loves the other missionaries he works with and lives with. His language skills continue to improve.  He says it is really hot! He has not tired of eating beans and rice yet:) It looks like he will have his first baptism in January.

EXTRA - EXTRA

The Anderson Family is in Need of Your Prayers

Dick and Jill Andersons 10 month old grandson (Ashley's son) is fighting for his life at Riverton Hospital in Utah with a very severe case of RSV - a virus that attacks the respiratory system of infants.  He has been hospitalized since Monday night.  It is supposed to run it's course, but there hasn't been any improvement since he went in there.  He is very ill and Jill & I are scared to death.  Jill flew up there yesterday afternoon to help out with the other two children who are also ill, but OK at home.

His name is Andrew Vazquez - Andy.  Ashley and her family are receiving great support from their ward and friends up there, but the more help they can get the better. Please include this family and sweet baby in your prayers and If you feel inclined please include them in your fast this Sunday.
