Mt. View Sunday Summary

Meet new ward members:   Heather Neely and Eric Olsen.   Welcome to the Mt. view family.

Sister Jeri Breshears shared her testimony on Personal Revelation.   How we can get it and use it and what it has meant in her life.
Revelation comes in different ways to different people and sometimes in different ways to individuals.   The Holy Ghost speaks with a voice you feel more than a voice you hear.   We need to learn to be able to hear that voice.
Revelation can come immediately but rarely like a light that is turned on in a dark room but usually it will come gradually, a small amount of light at a time, like a sunrise.   It was recommended that we read Elder Bednar's talk "The Spirit of Revelation" from the April 2011 conference.

Brother Ed Packard shared his testimony and thoughts he had gleaned from the talk from the April 2019 conference by Elder David Homer, "Hearing His Voice".
We have many voices telling us what to do, what to believe, and who we are in this world.   Electronic devices are the most influential in distracting us.   Apps and social media have learned all about us and bombard us with things to tempt us to try new things.   We need to learn how the spirit speaks to us, which is a life long quest.  We need to be in tune and learn to hear the spirit even when it is a soft voice.   It doesn't get louder to get our attention.  We need to learn to recognize it. Christ said in John 10:27,

My sheep hear my voice, and know them, and they follow

 me.

Personal Study

He That Is without Sin, by Liz Lemon Swindle

April 29–May 5  John 7–10
“I Am the Good Shepherd”

Although Jesus Christ came to bring “peace [and] good

will toward men” (Luke 2:14), there was “a division

among the people because of him” (John 7:43). People

who witnessed the same events came to very different

conclusions about who Jesus was. Some concluded, “He

is a good man,” while others said, “He deceiveth the

people” (John 7:12). When He healed a blind man on

the Sabbath, some insisted, “This man is not of God,

because

he keepeth not the sabbath day,” while others asked,

“How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles?”

(John 9:16). Yet despite all the confusion, those who

searched for truth recognized the power in His words,

for “never man spake like this man” (John 7:46). When

the Jews asked Jesus to “tell us plainly” whether he was

the Christ, He revealed a principle that can help us

distinguish truth from error: “My sheep hear my voice,”

He said, “and I know them, and they follow me” (John

10:27).

Book of Mormon Scripture Study Class
The full time missionaries sponsor a Book of Mormon class.
The class is held on Sunday Evenings from 5-6:00 pm in the Relief Society Room at the Shea Building

The teacher is Daryl Williams of the Mountain View Ward. The lessons are for those who want a better understanding of the Book of Mormon and is suitable for both life-long members and those who do not attend the church, whether members or not. It is ideal for people who do not feel like they ready to attend a worship service, but are interested in the Church. The dress is casual. The class covers the Book of Mormon in one year, so it provides a more in-depth look at the book than typical of a Gospel Doctrine class and makes the class suitable for both long-time students of the scriptures and beginners.   Bring a physical copy of all the scriptures and a notebook for your thoughts.
