Sacrament Meeting Highlights

This was our yearly ward conference.   The choir gave a fantastic rendition of "Standing on the Promises".
President Russell Taylor reminded us that to stay on the covenant path we must follow the admonition found in 2 Nephi 31:20
Wherefore, ye must press forward with steadfastness in Christ, having perfect    brightness of hopeand love of God andof all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward,  feasting  upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father:   Ye shall have eternal life.
Even when we don't feel like we are doing things perfectly we need to NOT give up, to make changes and remember it will NOT be easy and just trying IS enough.
We need to keep "Pressing forward".

President Juan Quilantan shared an experience of taking his family to see the Gila Valley temple.   They drove to Payson and he pulled over to get his bearings.   He had headed to Gila County rather than the Gila Valley.   It was a reminder to him that we need to consult a map or get instructions before we embark on a journey or mission.   We all have a mission and a purpose.   If we follow the stake goals to follow the covenant path  with prayer, scripture study, keeping the Sabbath day holy, inviting others to join in a gospel activity, fasting monthly and giving a  generous fast offering and serving frequently at the temple we will complete that covenant path and endure to the end.   He shared two questions to consider:  "What do you do to establish a successful family?" and "If you didn't have the church organizations how much doctrine would your children be getting."

Personal Study

The Transfiguration, by Carl Heinrich Bloch
April 1–14

Matthew 16–17Mark 8–9Luke 9

“Thou Art the Christ”

A testimony of Jesus Christ comes by revelation.  How would you respond if Jesus asked you, “Whom say ye that I am?” (See Matthew 16:13–15.)

Matthew 17:1–9; Mark 9:2–10; Luke 9:28–36    When Jesus took Peter, James, and John to “a high mountain,” He was transfigured (or glorified) before them. Moses and Elias (Elijah) also appeared and bestowed priesthood keys on the Apostles. These keys enabled them to lead Christ’s Church on the earth after His Resurrection (see Bible Dictionary, “Transfiguration, Mount of”). These keys were also restored in our day (see D&C 110).                                                                  Matthew 16:13–1917:1–9   What are the “keys of the kingdom of heaven”?  The “keys of the kingdom of heaven” that the Savior promised to give Peter are priesthood keys (Matthew 16:19). “Priesthood keys are the authority God has given to priesthood leaders to direct, control, and govern the use of His priesthood on earth.

Book of Mormon Scripture Study Class
The full time missionaries sponsor a Book of Mormon class.
The class is held on Sunday Evenings from 5-6:00 pm in the Relief Society Room at the Shea Building

The teacher is Daryl Williams of the Mountain View Ward. The lessons are for those who want a better understanding of the Book of Mormon and is suitable for both life-long members and those who do not attend the church, whether members or not. It is ideal for people who do not feel like they ready to attend a worship service, but are interested in the Church. The dress is casual. The class covers the Book of Mormon in one year, so it provides a more in-depth look at the book than typical of a Gospel Doctrine class and makes the class suitable for both long-time students of the scriptures and beginners.   Bring a physical copy of all the scriptures and a notebook for your thoughts.
