Mt. View Sunday Summary
Welcome new  member:  Kimberly Beckstrom
Callings:  Eric Watson was released as Asst. Ward Clerk
Russ Berg was released from the High Council and David Timmerman was sustained to the stake high council
Sacrament Meeting Recap:   The ward choir shared a beautiful rendition of "All Things Bright and Beautiful".
Courtnie Crockett shared her experiences in learning gratitude through service.   As the 10 lepers were healed by Christ, only one was made whole and that was because he returned to give thanks.  Blessings are magnified 100x when we show gratitude as Christ did before feeding the 5000 with just a few small fish and a small number of bread loaves.  Gratitude opens the doors of heaven.   Show your gratitude by saying prayers that only offer gratitude to the Lord.
Jay Gardner shared his gratitude to his parents and to the ward members for the love they offered to him during his life.   He shared with us the story of his mother sharing what little they had with others and how her gratitude for what she had made it possible to feed her large family and many other with just a small pot roast.   The Gardner family has moved to the Paradise Valley ward and will be missed in our ward.

  FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Personal Study

November 25–December 1

1 and 2 Peter

“Rejoice with Joy Unspeakable and Full of Glory”

I can find joy during times of trial and suffering.

At first glance, it might seem strange that Peter used words like rejoice, happy, glory, and exceeding joy in association with words we typically associate with hardship: heaviness, temptations, grief, fiery trial, and sufferings (see 1 Peter 1:6; 2:19; 4:12–13). Peter’s message to the early Saints was the same message taught by President Russell M. Nelson: “Saints can be happy under every circumstance. … When the focus of our lives is on God’s plan of salvation … and Jesus Christ and His gospel, we can feel joy regardless of what is happening—or not happening—in our lives. Joy comes from and because of Him. He is the source of all joy” (“Joy and Spiritual Survival,” Ensign or Liahona, Nov. 2016, 82).
The gospel is preached to the dead so they can be judged justly.  Through the power of Jesus Christ, I can develop my divine nature.
